DESTINATION & TOURISM

Key Facts, International Travel, and Things to Do

Background World
Background

The town of Mugello is located in the Tuscan hills approximately 30Km from the city of Florence. This is a historic region that dates further back than 700 BC and gets its name by the Magelli tribe who were the first inhabitants of this area. It was later occupied by the Etruscans, who left many archaeological sites in the area and built the first road system of the region. After further domination by the Romans, the region was acquired by the Republic of Florence during medieval times and it remains part of the Florence area to this day.

In line with the historical heritage of the region, the circuit resembles an amphitheatre with the Prato areas and Grandstands higher up than the track itself, therefore offering fantastic views of large parts of the track and making it one of the riders and fans favourite!

Thing To Do
Things to do

The Tuscan hills offers plenty of beautiful countryside scenery, history, and wineries and agriturismo sites (typical farmhouses) where to enjoy local wines and delicacies. Tuscany is also famous for the beauty of its cities with Pisa, Siena and Florence (to name just the biggest) within driving distance. You can immerse yourself in the vast array of historical sites, museums, art displays and, last but not least, restaurants serving typical dishes. Our selection of some of our favourite things to do can be found below:

Uffizi Gallery

This major art museum is located adjacent to the Piazza della Signoria in the Historic Centre of Florence. Wander through some key pieces of art from the past 1,000 years from artists such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and Rembrandt, to name a few.

Florence Cathedral

Also located in the historic centre of Florence, this UNESCO World Heritage Site cathedral is one of the largest churches in Italy and the largest brick dome ever constructed.

Leaning Tower of Pisa

Constructed in the 12th Century, and tilting due to construction occurring on inadequate foundation, this iconic bell tower is world famous in the Tuscany region of Italy.

If you are planning to spend more than a weekend in the area, you can even drive down to the coast and relax in one of the numerous seaside resort cities, with Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi among the most famous.

Weather
Weather

Tuscany enjoys a mild climate with lower temperatures in the hill and mountain areas such as Mugello. In June Mugello generally offers long, sunny and hot days (with temperatures as high as 27 degrees), and cooler evenings (as low as 15 degrees). Due to the good weather, June falls within the main tourist season, which runs from mid-April to the end of September.
